Mark Rose
Mark Rose
Mark Rose is singer/songwriter from Chicago. Former frontman of the band Spitalfield (1998-2007), & lifetime ALF enthusiast-- Mark writes his own blend of R&B infused rock and pop that leaves you somewhere between 1983 & the present.

The 30-year old Chicago native has quite the resume under his belt. Out of pure jealousy of his older sister starting piano lessons, Mark begged his parents to give him a shot at the keys at the ripe age of 5. Fast-forward to pre-teen-Rose at age 11, when he received his very first guitar – and hasn’t slowed down since. Not only has Mark performed over 1,000 shows in 9 countries spanning over 3 continents, but also took the time to truly fine-tune his craft by attending Columbia College in Chicago for music composition. Following his stint at Columbia, Mark signed his first record contract and publishing deal before the age of 19, at which point his career shifted into the Spitalfield era for almost ten fruitful years.

"Rose’s full-length solo debut has style and emotion of a John Hughes movie soundtrack," says Aubrey Welbers of Alternative Press Magazine, referring to Rose's 2011 effort, Wonderful Trouble. Working with producer Sean O'Keefe, the record took on a sound & shape that Mark had been working on putting together since the break-up of his former band. In January of 2013, Mark released his most recent EP, titled "The Sound of a Turnaround." Plans for his follow up full length album are the works for a Summer 2014 release.
Josh Berwanger
Josh Berwanger
Josh Berwanger could easily be considered a veteran of the rock and roll wars. He first made a name for himself as a member of The Anniversary, a seminal Kansas band that released two glorious albums (2000’s Designing a Nervous Breakdown and 2002’s Your Majesty) before calling it a day. Undeterred, Berwanger put together a new band, The Only Children, who would go on to release two criminally underrated records (2004’s Change of Living and 2007’s Keeper of Youth).

Having experienced the highest highs and lowest lows involved with chasing his musical dreams for the better part of two decades, Berwanger found himself at a crossroads—should he finally hang up his guitar for good or should he soldier on, pulling together his best tunes and working with a group of friends to make the best music possible? Luckily, he chose the latter. “There’s this part of me that really wants music to be normal again. I don’t even know what I mean by that exactly, but I know what normal isn’t—designer outfits, fireworks, synthesizers everywhere, crazy gimmicks. I don’t know how to relate to that. I want things to be more like Nirvana. I want to make rock and roll. I want to make something honest.”

Berwanger’s songs are born out of love, heartbreak, fear and frustration. They sound as big and open and honest as a Kansas skyline and speak to the struggle, unique to someone trying to slug it out in the music business for most of their adult life. Berwanger is, any many ways, a visceral statement about what it means to keep doing what you love—even when it feels like you are doing so against all odds.
