ABOUT SON LUX (ANTICON)
Composer/musician Son Lux fused hip-hop beats, sparse piano and plainchant in his 2008 debut record, At War with Walls & Mazes. That year, National Public Radio’s All Songs Considered recognized him as Best New Artist. For his latest release, We Are Rising, Son Lux forged an exquisite combination of classical notions, modern electronics, and unusual pop. Guest artists on the album include the Antlers’ Peter Siblerman, Shara Worden, DM Stith, and others. Opening act: Helado Negro (Asthmatic Kitty), whose new album, Canta Lechuza, is an audible transcendence of the confines of electronic music, a one-of-a-kind Latin abstract-expressionism. This concert kicks off OUTSOUND, a three-day sound art and experimental music festival presented by the Service Center for Contemporary Art & Culture.
